Immigration
A valid Visa to the UK is required for anyone
wishing to travel or immigrate to the UK.
UK
Immigration policy is complex, expert advice is
re-assuring and often a decisive factor in securing
your UK visa.
The range of UK Immigration
services available to people wishing to move to
the UK is extensive and varied, encompassing economic
based routes, such as UK Tier 2 work permits and
HSMP Tier 1 Visa, as well as family Immigration
Visas, designed for those wishing to visit Britain
for a short-period.
The UK
has introduced a number of new UK immigration
categories in the last few years. The points based
skilled immigration category the Highly Skilled
Migrant Programme, introduced in January 2002,
proved to be very successful. However, it has
been replaced by Tier 1 (General), part of the
UK's new five-tier points based system.
From 1
May 2004 nationals of the new EU Countries
have been able to work freely in the UK subject
only to the requirement in most cases that they
apply under the Worker Registration Scheme.
One
can immigrate to the UK
under Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, which
is a Points based system where points are awarded
for Education, Work Experience, Earnings, Significant
Achievement and Partner / Spouse's Skills. Under
HSMP one does not need any Employer Sponsorship
for immigration to the UK. Persons and their dependents
migrating under this scheme get PR status or ILR
in 4 years time.
The other
categories open for Immigration are available
for Innovators and Investors who want to set up
their business in the UK. This category also allows
PR status after 4 years.
Tier 1
immigration allows a person to enter the
UK to seek employment once they are able to show
they qualify. The UK tier 1 system includes investors
and business people and is an effective way to
enter the UK.
The UK
tier 2 visa replaces the old work permit
scheme and allows employers to obtain a UK immigration
sponsor’s licence to employ non-EU nationals.
UK Visas will allow employers to issue their own
work permits however the employer must be compliant
under UK Visas’ regulations.
A person
will require a Biometric visa
prior to arrival in the UK. Biometric visas are
a way for the UK Immigration and UK Visa services
authorities to collect fingerprints and images
of people prior to arrival in the UK as part of
their new, tighter border control policies.
